The High court of Punjab and Haryana gave notice to the officials dealing with bill sanctioning for lawyers’, to clear all the pending bills till 20 February, failing which they will have to attach their salaries.

The bench headed by Justice RN Raina directed the respondents to appoint nodal officers while hearing a petition of a taxation lawyer’s family, wherein the lawyer died in 2013 & hadn’t been paid for years. The court also observed that various governments, corporations and other semi-government bodies have not been clearing the dues in time.

Further, the Lawyers also alleged that bills in many cases haven’t been cleared and stated the instances where interest on delayed payments had not been paid.
