Indian Medical Association has slapped a defamation notice of Rs 1000 Cr on Baba Ramdev over his alleged disparaging remarks against allopathy and allopathic doctors. The association has also demanded an apology from him within the next 15 days. Failing to submit an apology, they sought compensation worth Rs 1000 Crore from Ramdev.
IMA (Uttarakhand) secretary Ajay Khanna along with 2,000 allopathy practitioners who are part of the association served a six-page notice through lawyer Neeraj Pandey. The notice describes Ramdev’s remarks as damaging to the reputation and image of allopathy.
IMA termed his remarks a criminal act under Section 499 of the Indian Penal Code. The association has also demanded Ramdev to make a video clip contradicting all his false and defamatory allegations, and circulate it on all the social media platforms where he had uploaded his earlier video clip levelling the allegations.
The notice also demands him to remove the advertisement from all the platforms which endorse “Coronil Kit” as an effective medicine for Covid-19 treatment, failing which IMA will lodge an FIR and criminal case against the Yoga Guru.
