In a bizarre incident of Uttar Pradesh, a man murdered his 30-year old friend for not returning Rs 50 which he had borrowed a few days back. The accused was arrested and sent to police custody on Saturday as per Firozabad police.
40-year old Brahmanad murdered his friend Vijaypal, a resident of Baroli village under Khairgarh police station on February 22.
According to police, Vijaypal and Brahmanand were friends as well as neighbours. Both of them used to earn their livelihood by working as construction labourers. The incident took place on the evening of February 22 when the duo was consuming alcohol. A few minutes later, both of them fell into an argument over Rs 50 that Vijaypal had borrowed from Brahmanand. Brahmanand confessed before the police that he strangled his friend.
“A police team was searching for Brahmanand for Vijaypal’s murder. Following a tip-off, he was arrested from Pratappura crossing. During initial interrogation, Brahmanand said that he had fight over Rs 50 which Vijaypal had borrowed from him. He died of strangulation. We suspect that someone else was also involved in the murder. The matter is being investigated in detail,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar.
