A woman has filed a complaint against BJP MLA Mahesh Singh Negi from Almora’s Dwarahat constituency accusing him of raping her in various hotels in Nepal, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The complainant woman was earlier accused of extorting Rs 5 crore in a complaint filed by Negi’s wife on August 14.

The woman has filed her complaint in Dehradun and also registered it with SHO of Nehru colony, where a complaint of extortion has been filed against her by Negi’s wife.

As per the complaint, woman told that she came in contact with Negi in 2016 as they were neighbours. “That time my mother used to remain sick and the doctor had advised her to take steam for which I was going to take her to a hospital. But Negi came to know about it and asked me not to visit the hospital as he has a steam machine in his home only. Believing him, I took my mother to his house for the same and one day, he called me outside the room on the pretext of having a selfie and then forcibly grabbed me,” said the complaint.

She further added in her complaint that Negi again raped her in a hotel of Mussorie just a few days before her marriage. The woman further added that she kept silent in view of the politician’s clout and got married on the decided date. The complainant further alleged that Negi called her and pressurized her to come to her maternal home.

“Due to this pressure and threats, I then came to my parent’s home after a few weeks. He then asked me not to go back to my in-laws and forced me to lodge a false complaint of dowry harassment against my husband and in-laws. When my husband asked the reason behind it, I narrated my ordeal to him, following which he ended all relations with me,” stated the complaint.

The complaint further stated that Negi has then raped her on various occasions after taking her to hotels in Almora, Delhi, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh, Nainital, and even to his friends’ farmhouse once in Haldwani. Later she got pregnant.

“When I informed him about my pregnancy, he assured me that he would give his name to the child and take care of me. He even accompanied me for medical examinations in a Dehradun hospital before my delivery on May 18 this year,” said the complaint.

The complaint further stated that after the victim delivered a baby girl, she conducted a DNA test which clarified that her husband was not the biological father of her child. She told the whole thing to Negi who refused to accept the allegations and child.

Her complaint further alleges that Rita Negi, wife of Mahesh Singh Negi has offered her Rs 25 lakh to forget the incident which she refused by stating that she won’t back off and will fight for her daughter’s rights.

After which Rita Negi had filed a police complaint against the woman accusing her of extorting money with false allegations on her husband.

The complainant is demanding DNA test of the MLA and also sought police protection to her along with her daughter.

Superintendent of police, Dehradun, Shweta Chaubey stated, “The complaint has been given to DIG but is yet to be received by us. Once we get it, appropriate action would be taken on it.”

The accused Mahesh Singh Negi has denied all the allegations by calling it an opposition party’s conspiracy to defame him. “She has submitted the false complaint after getting booked in an extortion case. The Opposition Congress is using her to malign my image with false accusations. Investigations in the extortion case will reveal everything,” said Mahesh Singh Negi.
