Delhi High Court has dismissed the lawsuit filed by Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla against the rollout of 5G technology in India. The court has also imposed a cost of Rs 20 lakh on Juhi Chawla and two other appellants.

“Juhi Chawla’s lawsuit defective, abuse and misuse of process of law, wasted court’s time and filed it to gain publicity. Suit filed for publicity as Chawla shared web link of hearing on social media account leading to interruption by unknown people,” Justice Jag Jivan Ram Midha said.

“The plaintiffs have abused and misused the process of law which has resulted in waste of judicial time. The cost of Rs 20 lakh is imposed on the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs are directed to deposit the cost of Rs 20 lakh with Delhi State Legal Services Authority within one week,” Justice Midha added.

The Wednesday hearing of the matter got repeatedly disrupted by unknown persons by singing songs of Juhi Chawla’s movies — Meri banno ki aayegi baraat…, Lal lal hoton pe gori kiska naam hai… and Ghoonghat ki aad mein dilbar ka. The court ordered contempt proceedings against the persons who disrupted the court proceedings.
