Delhi police have booked a couple under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for violating the Covid guidelines and also misbehaving with them. The duo was stopped for not wearing masks in their vehicle.
On Sunday, a video of a couple went viral in which they can be seen misbehaving with the police after being stopped for not wearing masks. “What drama are you people doing in the name of corona?” the woman said.

The couple identified as Pankaj and Abha who were residents of Patel Nagar, Central Delhi were stopped by the Delhi police for not wearing masks. The police also alleged that they didn’t have a curfew pass.
The woman can be seen shouting at the police officials. First she claimed that she has cleared UPSC. After which the police officials stated that if she has cleared UPSC, she should behave in a more responsible manner. Later, the woman claimed that she is the daughter of a sub-inspector.

The couple was taken to the Darya Ganj police station and an FIR was lodged against the two under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code. The husband was arrested yesterday and the wife was arrested today.
Previously, Delhi High Court had ruled that wearing a mask is mandatory even if a person is driving alone in a private vehicle. The ruling considered a vehicle as a public place.
Taking note of the worsening Covid-situation, Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government has announced a weeklong curfew from 10pm of Monday till the 5am of next week’s Monday. Yesterday, Delhi registered its biggest-ever single-day spike of 25,462 coronavirus infections and 161 deaths.
On Thursday, Delhi government had imposed a weekend curfew in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.
