Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked Arvind Kejriwal led AAP government that why only spas are disallowed to open amid COVID-19, while all other public places including markets, gyms, metro, buses, and restaurants are open and running.
Justice Navin Chawla raised the question after Centre government informed that it has issued a memorandum on November 18 allowing spas to reopen. While the Delhi government stated that it cannot allow the spas to reopen in view of the third wave of Covid-19 infections in the city.
The counsel appearing for the Delhi government sought more time to file an affidavit to explain the reason behind the decision.
“Why? Why only spas? What is so special about spas? You have opened everything else. Look at markets, restaurants, metros, buses, all are open and running full time,” asked Justice Chawla.
The court has asked the Delhi government to explain in its affidavit about what was so special about spas so that the government has decided not to permit the spas to reopen while everything else has been opened.
Delhi High court has listed the matter for hearing on December 4.
