A Delhi cop, currently posted as a PA of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of a traffic unit, has been arrested over the four FIRs filed against him in a single day. He is accused of stalking, molestation, and passing lewd comments on women.
On October 17, three complaints are registered in the Dwarka area of Delhi. The complaints were about being stalked and molested by a man in grey Baleno between 8 AM to 9 PM. A similar complaint was filed the same day.
The accused has been identified as SI Puneet Garewal. He is booked under 354D and 354 of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act at Dwarka South Police Station.
The matter got police attention after one woman posted a video on social media platform explaining her ordeal. In the video, she said, “While cycling, I noticed a small, grey car which had its rear glass broken. After some time, I noticed that the car was being driven beside me. I didn’t look at him. He honked at me. I gestured him to move ahead. He didn’t move ahead and chased me.”
She further added, “The man in the car asked her for directions to Sector-14 in Dwarka and when she was about to tell him, he unzipped his trousers and started touching his private parts. I angrily asked him to leave. I then realised that there was nobody around me and that cars were passing by in high speed. The man in the car started saying nasty things.”
He immediately drove away when she started screaming for help.
The police scanned over 200 CCTVs and also deployed a police team of 200 personnel. During the process, over 286 Balenos registered in the Delhi Dwarka region were tracked by the police. However, the accused didn’t have a registered car number, the police tracked him down and arrested in hi residential area in west Delhi’s Janakpuri.
