In the time when Delhiites are scrambling for oxygen, beds, and other medical facilities, Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has reserved a five-star hotel Ashoka hotel as a Covid-19 facility for the Delhi High Court judges, other judicial staff, and their families. The order came following a request made by the Delhi High Court for setting up of CHC facility for the Hon’ble Justices and other judicial officers of Delhi High Court and their families.
Taking note of the request, 100 rooms are allotted for the High Court judges, other staff, and their families. These rooms will be attached to the Primus Hospital, a private hospital in Chanakyapuri, Delhi.
The order was issued by the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chanakyapuri, Geeta Grover on April 25. The order stated that any non-compliance with the order will attract legal action under Disaster Management Act 2005 and the Delhi Epidemic Diseases COVID19 Regulations 2020.
“A request has been received from Delhi High Court for setting up of CHC facility for the Hon’ble Justices and other judicial officers of Delhi High Court and their families. Now, therefore, I, Geeta Grover… in exercise of powers…and in overall imminent public interest, do hereby require the 100 rooms of Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi for setting up of Covid Health facility for the use of Hon’ble Justices and other judicial officers of Delhi High Court and their families and place at the disposal of Primus Hospital, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi with immediate effect,” said the SDM order.
“It will take at least till the end of the week for the facility to become operational. It will be only for judges, HC staff, and their families, as is mentioned in the order,” said SDM Grover.
The major highlights of the SDM order include
- The Primus Hospital will run the Covid health care facility at the Ashoka Hotel;
- The disposal of the biomedical waste will be the responsibility of the hospital;
- The staff of the hotel will be provided with all protective gear and given adequate training;
- Ambulance for the transfer facility will be provided by Primus Hospital.
- If there is any shortage in the hotel staff, the hospital should provide the arrange their staff;
- All services including rooms, housekeeping, disinfection, and food for patients will be provided by the Hotel;
- The charges shall be collected by the hospital and the hospital shall make payment to the hotel.
- The hospital may accommodate their own doctors, nurses, and other paramedical staff at their own expenses after deciding the rates mutually.
- Dinesh Kumar Meena, Executive Magistrate, New Delhi is directed to coordinate with the Primus Hospital and the Hotel Authorities for setting up the CHC facility.
