As per the police statement, the assailant targeted the teenager with the intention of robbing him. However, upon discovering that the victim had only Rs 350 in his pocket, the accused reportedly realized the meager amount. On Wednesday, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the charge of murder.
Disturbing CCTV footage shows the accused dragging the victim’s blood-soaked body. Subsequently, the assailant is observed repeatedly stabbing the victim, gesturing to onlookers to keep their distance. At intervals, the perpetrator is depicted engaging in a dance, hands raised, all while holding a knife stained with blood. The footage extends for over two minutes.
The video additionally reveals the perpetrator’s attempt to decapitate the victim by slicing one side of his neck.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey’s statement, the murder occurred at approximately 11:15 pm on Tuesday in “Gali no. 18, Idgah Road, Janta Mazdoor Colony.” The accused reportedly initiated the attack by strangling the victim before proceeding with the vicious assault.
The DCP Turkey stated that robbery was the motive. He also said that the accused and the victim did not know each other.
“The accused first choked the victim with an intent to rob him. When the victim fell unconscious, the accused stabbed him multiple times before robbing him of Rs 350 which he found in his pocket. The victim was taken to GTB Hospital where he was declared as brought dead,” he added.
DCP Tirkey informed ThePrint that few cases could be deemed more heinous than this, emphasizing that the police intend to petition the court for the accused to be tried as an adult.
A law enforcement official participating in the inquiry, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the accused, currently under interrogation, has displayed “no remorse” and seems to be a “smart individual.”
