Doctors across the country are observing June 1 as the Black Day and staging protests against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev. Medical associations from different parts of the country are seeking an ‘unconditional open public apology’ from Yoga Guru Ramdev over his insensitive and derogatory comments against Allopathy.

“Dear Baba Ramdev, in the past year, I have lost a lot of colleagues – senior and junior, some recently married and some with young children. They died serving the nation. Not one day did they decide not to wear the PPE and come to the hospital. They could have chosen to hide safely behind a bubble-like you did, but they did not,” said Dr Abhishek Tandon, Resident (Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine), All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur.
“Protest is not against Ayurveda but Ramdev. We don’t want any kind of debate with Ramdev. Who is he? He is a layman. Ramdev has only made his business in this pandemic,” said FORDA President Dr Manish.

Almost 10 days ago, Baba Ramdev shared a video and made statements which all our frontline healthcare workers found really hurtful and demotivating.
In the video, he can be seen saying that “allopathy is stupid and failed science’ and ‘lakhs of patients have died after taking allopathic medicines’.

After he received criticism along with the pressure of Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and IMA, he withdrew his comments. But with that move, Baba Ramdev also shot an open letter to IMA and posed 25 questions related to allopathy to them.

IMA Slapped Rs 1,000 Crore Notice on Baba Ramdev
Finding his comments demotivating to the frontline corona warriors who have been working day and night amid pandemic, the Indian Medical Association slapped a defamation notice of Rs 1000 Cr on Baba Ramdev. The association has also demanded an apology from him within the next 15 days. Failing to submit an apology, they sought compensation worth Rs 1000 Crore from Ramdev. The notice has also asked him to remove the advertisement from all the platforms which endorse “Coronil Kit” as an effective medicine for Covid-19 treatment.
IMA has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding strict action against the Yoga Guru and book him for sedition.
