A local court in LB Nagar has sentenced a school bus cleaner convicted of outraging the modesty of a minor girl, to two years of imprisonment and has also imposed an exemplary cost of Rs 1500.

Mahesh M Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate told, “On 2 April 2019 the complainant resident of LB Nagar area lodged a complaint in Chaitanyapuri Police Station in which he stated that his daughter is studying 8th standard in a private school.” The victim’s father narrated the whole episode of sexual harassment with her daughter.

23-year old U. Sathyanarayana alias Sathish was a bus cleaner from Kothapet and a native of Mahabubnagar. Sathyanarayana used to pick the students for regular classes and drop after the classes complete. He had befriended the victim who was a class 8th student. He lured the minor by giving her chocolates and touches her inappropriately.

Once the accused took her to the cellar of the school building and forcibly outraged her modesty. He had also threatened the victim to keep her mouth shut about the incident and not to inform anybody.

Taking note of the complaint, a complaint was registered in Chaitanyapuri police station under Section 509, Section 506, Section 354 (B) of Indian Penal Code, and Section 11 (lV) r/w 12 of the POCSO Act.

IO P Anthaiah, Sub-Inspector of Police, investigated the matter. He arrested and remanded the accused and filed a charge sheet in the court.

On 9 September 2020, the accused was convicted by IX ADJ Court At LB Nagar and sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment with an exemplary cost of Rs 1500.
