Two separate complaints have been registered against actor Puneet Vashisht for alleged defamatory post naming Sooraj Pancholi, Disha Salian, Sushant Singh Rajput, and other Bollywood actors. One complaint has been registered by Sooraj Pancholi and the second one by Disha Salian’s family.
In the complaint filed by Sooraj Pancholi, he has submitted the evidence related to Puneet Vashisht’s June 30 Facebook post in which Vashisht had linked the actor to the two deaths that happened in June. He had also mentioned various defamatory things about Sooraj Pancholi, Disha Salian, and few other actors of the industry.
Then on July 2, he edited the post and added “forwarded” at the beginning of the post, to indicate that the post was forwarded by someone else. It is said that the post is still there on his Facebook wall and is shared multiple times.
Pancholi told the police that he came to know about the post after his friends informed him. “Mischievous stories are planted in social media by Mr. Puneet Vashisht and larger organised crime syndicate. The police should ask them to procure evidence for their theory and if they do not have any, action should be taken,” read the complaint.
“We have received the complaint and are conducting an inquiry.” The second complaint has been filed by Salian’s parents at Malwani police station accusing Vashisht of tarnishing their daughter’s reputation. “The family has said Vashisht put up defamatory posts against her on his Facebook,” said the official.
No FIR has been registered yet over the two complaints.
On August 11, Actor Puneet Vashisht has accepted his mistake and apologized for sharing a forwarded message on his Facebook wall defaming Sooraj Pancholi, among others.
