With leaving behind an18-page suicide note with a hope that it will reach PM Narendra Modi, a 16-year old girl shot herself on the eve of Independence day over alleged tension of increasing social evils in the country.
“The girl had committed suicide on the night on August 14 by shooting herself. The revolver was recovered by police and her body was sent for post-mortem examination,” said Devendra Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Gunnaur.
“The suicide note is my daughter’s last wish. We want that the letter must reach the Prime Minister,” said the girl’s father.
The girl was a class X student and used to study in a private school in Babrala. She was a resident of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, and was a daughter of a farmer.
In the suicide note, the girl has mentioned her eagerness to meet Narendra Modi and discuss the matter with him. She raised her concerns over the pollution, deforestation, and corruption in the country.
Describing her distress over the increasing social evils, minor has also urged PM Modi to curb the use of firecrackers at the time of Diwali and use of chemically manufactured colors on the occasion of Holi.
The deceased has also expressed her disappointment over the treatment of elderly people in the country and wrote, “I don’t want to live anymore in a place where children send their parents to old age homes.”
During the investigation, it was discovered that the girl had been undergoing psychological treatment.
