Patna district administration has lodged an FIR against the father of the deceased groom who died after 2 days of his wedding, for the safety breach and violating lockdown norms. The wedding has erupted as the super spreader of the deadly Coronavirus in Bihar with testing 113 people positive so far.

Patna District Magistrate Kumar Ravi has directed the Paliganj sub-divisional magistrate to inquire about the matter and has ordered to register an FIR against the father Ambika Chaudhary for not adhering to the COVID-19 protocols. He is booked under the relevant sections of Disaster Management Act, 2005 which is in effect after the COVID-19 outbreak.

It is alleged that this is a massive violation of lockdown guidelines as there were more than fifty guests at the wedding, no social distancing was practiced, and no one was wearing the masks. Till now, 113 attendees have been tested positive.

Anil Kumar had returned from Gurugram and the marriage took place in Patna’s Deehpali village on June 15. After two days, his condition started deteriorating and he reported stomach pain. He died on the way to the hospital. It is alleged that Anil’s family performed his last rites and cremated his body without informing the district administration.

While the Ambika Chaudhary who is a government teacher has stated that the hospital staff has not conducted any test. He has communicated that his son has returned from Gurugram but is not showing any corona symptoms. So hospital staff handed over the body to the family and didn’t even inform about the Union Health Ministry guidelines to perform funeral rites.
