Rachakonda police have arrested 36 years old lab technician from LB Nagar over the allegations leveled by his 24-year old housewife of dowry harassment and instant Triple Talaq.

L.B. Nagar inspector V. Ashok Reddy told that they had received the case insights from Vanasthalipuram on July 13 and thereafter re-registered a case against the 36-year old accused under Section 4 of the Muslim Woman (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019.

The victim stated in the complaint that she got married to Abdul Shamee, a lab technician in Mallepally of Mahabubnagar district in September 2017. Later they moved to Hyderabad to find a source of livelihood. “Her in-laws were torturing her for additional dowry and gold and every month she went to her mother or uncle’s home to get money,” stated inspector Reddy.

In June 2018, she gave birth to a baby boy after which she visited her maternal house for few months. During that period of time, Abdul and his family allegedly stole the gold and sold it. When she asked them about the gold theft, they assaulted and heated her up and then locked her in a room for three months.

“He used the word talaq several times, and tortured her mentally, and also tried to kill her for divorce. On March 25, when she refused to give divorce, he said talaq three times and criticized and dropped her at her maternal house around midnight,” told Mr. Ashok Reddy.

Earlier Saroornagar women police station had booked him over the dowry harassment and domestic violence complaints filed by his wife.

Now again, he has been arrested by LB Nagar police under Rachakonda Commissionerate and is in the police remand.
