Home » News » ED Summoned Rhea Chakraborty and Family Under PMLA in Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case


Enforcement Directorate has summoned Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty in a money laundering case stemmed out of the FIR filed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father in Patna. She was expected to appear before the ED at 11 AM on August 7 to be probed for financial misconduct.

ED is going to question 28 years old Rhea Chakraborty over her relationship with the late actor, business dealing, two high-end property purchases that Rhea had made while being in relationship with Sushant, and over suspicious transactions. Her statement will be recorded under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The probe agency has registered a money laundering case over Rs 15 crore amount against Rhea following the FIR lodged against her under various sections of Indian Penal Code including criminal conspiracy, abetment to suicide, money extortion, and many others. The FIR was filed by Sushant’s father KK Singh last week.

ED interrogated late actor’s house manager on August 3 and Chartered Accountant (CA) Sandeep Shridhar on August 3. There are at least two companies and some financial deals for which Rhea Chakraborty and her brother are under probe agency scanner.

Yesterday, centre has given nod to the CBI probe into the matter and the Supreme Court has sought the reply of the states of Maharashtra and Bihar, and also from Sushant’s father over the plea filed by Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of probe from Patna to Mumbai.

An investigation team led by IPS Tiwari has reached Mumbai last week to investigate the matter. The team has already reached Mumbai while IPS Tiwari had landed on Sunday. He was quarantined at around 11 PM by the BMC Mumbai which was highly condemned by the people and apex court as well.

“A very unfortunate incident has taken place. A gifted and talented artist has passed away in circumstances which are unusual. Now, the circumstances in which this death took place needs to be inquired into,” stated Justice Hrishikesh Roy while hearing Rhea Chakraborty plea to transfer the FIR from Patna to Mumbai.
