After discovering the withdrawal of a huge amount of money from the temple trust fraudulently, an FIR has been registered by Ram Temple Trust Secretary Champat Rai in Kotwali police station. The amount was withdrawn in two different attempts from two separate banks in Lucknow.

An amount of Rs 6 lakh has been withdrawn from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust- the body entrusted with the responsibility of construction of a grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

As per the sources, two cloned cheques were presented before the bank worth Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh for the transfer of money.

The fraud was detected when the fraudsters were about to withdraw an amount of Rs 9.86 lakh in the third attempt. They have presented the forged cheque before the Bank of Baroda branch.

The bank manager gave a verification call to Champat Rai, the secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust who denied having issued any such cheque.

Then, following the investigation, the police discovered, “On further inquiry, it was found that money had been withdrawn earlier, too.”

The Cyber cell is also investigating the matter.
