The Acting Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Justice Bhushan Pradyumna Dharmadhikari has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. A proclamation in this regard was notified by the Joint Secretary, Rajinder Kashyap, vide dated 18 March.

Earlier, on 24 February, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, has recommended the elevation of Justice BP Dharmadhikari as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, who was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the said HC, following the retirement of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog.

Justice BP Dharmadhikari was born on 28 April 1958 and has completed his law from Nagpur University (Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj University). After being enrolled with the Bar Council of Maharashtra, he practiced as an advocate in Nagpur from 1980 and worked under Advocate HS Ghare till 1984. As an advocate, he appeared for several Government Corporations, Industries, Employers, Unions and Private clients in all Courts viz. Labour Court, Industrial Court, Civil, and Criminal Courts, High Court, Central, and State Administrative Tribunals, Co-operative Court, Revenue Authorities.

Justice Dharmadhikari was then appointed as the Additional Judge of Bombay High Court on 15 March 2004 and later was elevated as Permanent Judge on 12 March 2006. Subsequently, on 24 February 2020, he was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.
