In yet another horrific incident, the dead bodies of two minor Dalit girls were found hanging from a tree in sugarcane fields in the Nighasan area of Lakhimpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

In the press conference, Lakhimpur Kheri Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Suman stated that six persons have been arrested. The accused booked in connection to the heinous crime are Suhail, Junaid, Hafizul Rehman, Karimuddin and Arif. One another person named Chotu is also arrested who allegedly introduced the girls to the accused.
Reportedly, the girls were raped by Sohail and Junaid. They strangulated the girls after they insisted on getting married. Other accused were also involved in the killing of the girls and eliminating the evidence.
Following the complaint filed by the family members of the deceased, the police has registered a case under Section 302, Section 323, Section 452, Section 376 of Indian Penal Code relating to murder and rape, and also under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The mother of the victim alleged that the accused kidnapped the two girls on a motorcycle, took them to the fields, raped, murdered and then hung them from a tree.
